The Federation

The International Federation of Trekkers (IFT) is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the positive values and inclusive philosophy of Star Trek through real-world action and community service. Founded in 1984 by Russ Haslage and Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, the Federation encourages fans to embody the spirit of unity, exploration, and humanitarianism portrayed in the series – all while rejoicing in Trekker fun!

Over the years, the Federation has partnered with a range of charitable organizations to support diverse causes, including the American Red Cross, St. Jude Children’s Research Center, Mercury One, and local food banks. Through these collaborations, Federation members engage in activities such as disaster relief, food distribution, environmental cleanup efforts, and fundraising for numerous organizations, channeling their passion for Star Trek into meaningful contributions that reflect the franchise’s vision of a better future for all.
